$5.000 To Have Dinner With Arias
Want to have dinner with former
president and Nobel prize winner
Dr. Óscar Arias Sánchez who is
also the presidential candidate
for the Partido Liberacion
Nacional (PLN) party for the
2006 bid for the presidential
chair?
Well, then be prepared to shell
out us$5.000 a plate.
That is the cost per person in a
fund raising dinner that is
being planned by the green and
white party and defended by
campaign manager, Rodrigo Arias,
brother of the presidential
candidate, following criticism.
The main critic of this type of
fundraising is the head of the
Partido Acción Ciudadana (PAC),
Martha Zamora, who is
questioning the legality of the
activity and questioning the
recent revelation of a campaign
contribution by former tourism
minister, Rubén Pacheco, who is
also an advisor to the current
government and under fire over
irregularities over his Papagayo
project in Guanacaste.
For $5.000, the donor gets to
participate in a small dinner
party with the presidential
candidate and support the "Arista"
movement.
Rodrigo is empathic that making
a donation and having dinner
with Oscar doesn't mean we will
anyone a political favour. "The
dinner is simply a fundraising
event", said Rodrigo Arias.
