Panama reinforces security
against terrorism
Panamanian President Martin
Torrijos announced Friday that
measures have been taken to
reinforce security around ports,
airports, embassies and the
Panama Canal.
Torrijos made the announcement
after signing Friday morning on
the condolence book of the
British Embassy to Panama for
terrorist attacks in London on
Thursday, which killed more than
50 people and left hundreds
injured.
"It is a responsibility not only
of the Panamanians, but also of
the world" to take these
measures, said the president,
stressing the importance of the
canal for world trade.
Also, the leader reiterated the
solidarity of his country with
the British people over the
tragic event.
