114 Hurt, 28 Arrested During
Zapote
Even though the annual Zapote
fair has yet to heat up,
oragnizers report that 114 have
been hurt and another 28 have
been detained by police.
The majority of those hurt
sustained injuries while riding
the rides, while 15 "toreros" -
those entering the bull ring in
what is known as 'toros a la
tica" - required medical
attention. Authorities say that
those detained was for robbery,
agression and not respecting
police.
More than 200 Fuerza Pública
officers and 45 Red Cross
workers are on alert 24 hours a
day at the fair.
