Resolutions do not eradicate
Misery
Members of non-governmental
organizations (NGO) assured that
child labor and misery are not
eradicated with resolutions
since the more than half a
million working children will be
persecuted in Colombia.
The Social Protection Ministry
increased the number of
activities forbidden for
children to 140 this Wednesday.
Among the works forbidden for
children there are the
agricultural work with tools,
use of machines, domestic
service and mining.
In this respect Reinel Garcia,
ex minor worker and coordinator
of the NGO Growing up United
assured that a resolution does
not eradicate misery and added
that children will be persecuted
with their families from now on.
"We do not agree with the
measure because it is not
accompanied by alternatives in
education and health", assured
Garcia.
Likewise, Liliana Obregon,
national coordinator of the IPEC
program from the International
Labour Organization pointed out
that for more than ten years
Colombia is working for the
eradication of that scourge and
many progresses have been
achieved.
