Chavez-Vazquez Tour Uruguay
Presidents Tabare Vázquez
(Uruguay) and Hugo Chavez
(Venezuela) started their
working agenda Thursday in this
capital and visited the
underdeveloped department of
Canelones.
Venezuela will finance a health
and an education center, a farm
cooperative plus stores to sell
goods at extremely low prices.
The two presidents will visit
ANCAP State Oil Company, which
is coordinating investments with
Venezuela to refine heavy oil.
Chavez will go to Montevideo
Hill, where Uruguay´s Glassworks
Company, closed during the
2001-2002 crisis, will be
recovered .
Venezuela´s president was the
first head of state attending
the Common Market of the South (MERCOSUR)
summit to arrive in this South
American nation.
MERCOSUR foreign ministers
prepared the agenda Wednesday
for Venezuela to enter this bloc
as a full partner.
Venezuela will go through a
regularization stage in its
tariff policy and during 2006
the whole bloc will assume
adaptation measures for the
tariff preferences and customs
coordination to come into
effect.
The Bolivarian Republic´s
entry to MERCOSUR is not only
considered the arrival of an
economically strong member but a
boost for the political balance
among all member countries.
