Bolivia and Brazil Sign
Immigration Accord
Bolivia and Brazil agreed to
improve immigration relations
through an agreement which will
become effective next September
for a twelve-month period.
Brazilian and Bolivian Foreign
Affairs Ministers Celso Amorim
and Armando Loaiza signed the
accords that will benefit more
than 100,000 Bolivians working
in Brazil.
Following two-year talks, the
agreement seeks to improve
conditions of immigrants from
both sides, and establishes that
legal immigrants have the same
labor rights and duties of
national workers.
Amorim will meet with Bolivian
President Eduardo Rodriguez to
invite him to the Summit of
Heads of State and Government of
the South American Community of
Nations Brasilia will host in
September.
He is also slated to examine
issues on infrastructure,
investments, trade and
cooperation.
Presently, Brazil is Bolivia´s
