Husband Murders Wife In Middle of Street
Twenty eight year old Nicaraguan, Vidalis Rodríguez, gasped for her last breath on the street only 200 metres from her house after her estranged husband surprised her from behind and slit her throat with a butcher knife.

The incident occurred yesterday just before noon in the area known as el Bajo de Los Anonos in Escazú, an area heavily populated by Nicaraguans, located next to the Anonos bridge, that separates Escazú and San José, at the entrance to the affluent area of Bello Horizonte.

According to witnesses, the woman had been separated from her husband for several months. Just before lunch, a man believed to be her estranged husband attacked the woman with a knife to the chest and held her arms while inflicting another wound to the throat.

The woman walked about 25 metres from the scene of the attack, leaving behind a trail of blood and then collapsed in the middle of the street. The Red Cross was on the scene almost immediately but could do nothing to same the woman.

Another woman who was waking with Vidalis was able to flee the moment of the attack and call for help.

Police theorize that the estranged husband identified only by his last name, Garcia, had become enraged about learning that is estranged wife had started a relationship with another man. She had left Nicaragua some three months back after leaving her husband, who in the last several days came to Costa Rica in search of Vidalis, who had left her three children behind in Nicaragua.
