Brazil considers recalling ambassador to Ecuador
The Brazilian Foreign Ministry said that Brazil is considering the possibility of recalling the ambassador to Ecuador as he can hardly work under current difficult conditions in the country.

According to daily Folha do Sao Paulo published on Saturday, Samuel Pinheiro, Secretary General of the foreign ministry, held "a tough conversation" with his Ecuadorian counterpart Edwin Johnson after Brazilian ambassador's car was mobbed by protesters.

Over 200 protesters blowing whistles and waving flags blocked the gates of the ambassador's residence Friday night, demanding ousted President Lucio Gutierrez remain in Ecuador to face trial.

When Brazilian Ambassador Sergio Florencio Sobrinho tried to leave, the crowd swarmed around his silver sport-utility vehicle, banging on the hood and shaking the vehicle as riot police tried to keep them back. Unable to drive past, the vehicle slowly reversed back into the compound.

Gutierrez took refuge at the residence of the Brazilian ambassador since Wednesday, when he was sacked amidst popular demonstrations.
