700,000 Marihuana Plants Destroyed
Law-enforcement agents destroyed some 700,000 marihuana plants, most of them 2 meters (6.5 feet) tall, in the Talamanca Range, on the Costa Rican Caribbean.

The operation resulted in the location of 20 plantations, one of which had 514,500 plants.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, in the last six years the police have destroyed closed to 7 million plants.

"This is a message to drug traffickers," said Minister of Public Security Rogelio Ramos.
