Chávez refutes he and Castro are "destabilizing elements"
Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez has refuted claims by US critics that he and Cuban leader Fidel Castro as destabilizing factors in the region.

He said Washington is just trying to split the continent, using a "divide and rule" approach which treats them like "colonies."

Chávez stated some people keep on saying that he and Fidel Castro "are a sort of an evil axis" which plan to destabilize other countries in the region.

In his statement, Chavez declared that the sole destabilizing factor in the continent is, and has always been, the United States.
