Raul Castro Arrives in China
Raul Castro, first vice
president of the Cuban Council
of State and deputy secretary of
the Communist Party (PCC)
Central Committee, has arrived
in China on Sunday for an
official working visit to keep
strengthening bilateral links.
The current visit is the first
leg of an Asian tour that also
includes Malaysia, Vietnam, and
Laos.
The Cuban leader is accompanied
by a delegation made up of
Revolution´s Commander Ramiro
Valdes Menendez; Foreign
Minister Felipe Perez Roque, and
Fernando Remirez de Estenoz,
head of the PCC Central
Committee International
Relations Department.
This is Raul Castro´s second
visit to this nation since 1997.
He will hold official talks with
Chinese vice-president Zen
Quinghong and will meet with the
Head of State and Chinese
Communist Party (CCP) General
Secretary Hu Jintao.
The Minister of Defense will
also meet Prime Minister Wen
Jiabao; the Parliament Permanent
Committee president, and other
government figures.
Raul Castro will visit Shanghai,
China´s largest eastern city,
where he will tour the modern
Pudong district and other sites
of interest.
