7 killed in northwestern Mexico
Seven people, including three children, were murdered and four others kidnapped over the weekend in the northwestern Mexican state of Baja California, police reported on Saturday.

Three children, ranging from six, seven to eight years old, along with their mother were stabbed to death in the Nido de Aguilas neighborhood of Tijuana on Friday evening. The father of the minors was injured in the attack, according to Fernando Trenti, coordinator of the Anti-Homicide Unit of the state Attorney General's office.

Entrepreneurs of the city of Tijuana in Baja California bordering the United States met with Mayor Jorge Hank Rhon on Saturday to express concern about what they termed as an endless wave of violence. They asked the mayor to boost security and curb crimes, police said.

In another city, Rosarito in Baja California, a young man was killed and his body abandoned in the wilderness. In addition, police found the bodies of a woman and a man wrapped up in a blanket, their hands and legs tied up with adhesive tape.

Police also reported the abduction of a merchant by a group of masked men in Tijuana on Thursday. Investigation is underway and efforts made to search for the 37-year-old merchant named Lopez Rodolfo.

In another development, two children and their mother were kidnapped on Friday, who were released after police arrested their kidnappers.
