Brazil, Havana Get Top Honors as Best Country and City
The Latin American Federation of
Congress and Related Event Planners (COCAL is the Spanish acronym) made
public the most outstanding destinations of 2004 in organizing congress
and events, with Brazil and Havana awarded as best country and best
city, respectively.
In the best country category, Cuba finished second followed by
Argentina, Uruguay and Colombia in that order.
During its annual assembly held from March 8 to 11 in the Argentine city
of Mar del Plata, COCAL officials accepted the application of the Cuba
Convention Bureau to join the organization.
The Cuba Convention Bureau is in charge of promoting the island nation
as an incentive and congress destination throughout the world.
Cuba relies on an increasing number of facilities and centers for the
organization of world-scale events, let alone a considerable amount of
four-star and five-star hotels and resorts.
Moreover, the Caribbean island counts on a good deal of experts endowed
with superb skills and expertise in the planning of international events
on Cuban soil.
