Some 1.5 million people are expected to take
to the roads beginning this week to visit
the beaches and mountain resorts for Semana
Santa. The subdirector of Tránsito,
Huanelgue Gutiérrez, says his police unit is
ready for the massive movement that although
officially begins on Saturday, April 4, the
massive exodus begins of Wednesday the 8th.

In an attempt to boost toursim, Nicaraguan
president, Daniel Ortega, on Saturday signed
an executive order that eliminates the us$25
visa fee to be paid by Costa Ricans to enter
Nicaragua.

Sunday to attend a summit with leaders from
Central American countries.
Earth Hour in
Costa Rica Saved 95 Megawatts
Turning off the lights for an hour on
Saturday night saved some 95 Megawatt hours
of electricity in Costa Rica, as part of the
Earth Hour, an action against Global
Warming.
