Free of Swine Flu, 21 Suspected Cases
Negative
Some 21 cases of swine flu have been
reported and investigated by health
officials, according to the ministra de
Salud, María Luisa Ávila, and in all 21
cases the laboratory results done by
Inceinsa have been negative. One of the
cases involved a Mexican tourist staying at
a downtown San Jose hospital.

Airport Workers Concerned Of Contacting
Swine Flu
Workers at the Juan Santamaría (San Jose)
international aiport have expressed concern
of coming into contact with persons infected
with the swine influenza that has so far
been confirmed in Mexico, the United States,
Canada and other countries.
Toll on First
Phase of San Jose - Caldera Highway Begins
on May 9
Beginning May 9 the new toll booths on the
first phase of the San Jose - Caldera
highway will begin operations. The toll
booths at Escazú and Piedades de santa Ana
and the Pozón de Orotina will be charging
drivers.
Former
President Calderón To Formalize Today His
Presidential Aspirations
Former Costa Rican president, Rafael Ángel
Calderón, is expected to formally submit his
name for the candidacy of the Partido Unidad
Social Cristiana (PUSC) party presidential
nomination. Calderón, who was president
between 1990 and 1994, is currently on trial
for corruption and embezzlement.
Swine Flu Impacts Soccer Competition
Due to the growing concerns about the
outbreak of swine flu in Mexico, CONCACAF
General Secretary Chuck Blazer announced
Monday that the remainder of the
confederation’s Under-17 Championship in
Tijuana has been cancelled and the second
leg of the Champions League finals has been
postponed.
