Watch celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver’s take on a healthy Costa Rican classic (VIDEO)

January 6th, 2016 (ICR News) Celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver was recently inspired by a trip to Costa Rica where he received a taste of the traditional Sopa Negra (literally, ‘black soup’), a healthy and traditionally Costa Rican black bean soup – which is also known in Costa Rica as a remedy the morning after a few too many drinks.

On Sunday, the Emmy-winning celebrity chef shared the video (below) showing his preparation of Sopa Negra with his more than 2 million YouTube viewers.

Oliver, who was in Guanacaste in June of last year, said he was “inspired by some lovely ladies in their 50’s” in the Nicoya peninsula who prepared the dish for him and the women’s 106-year-old father.

In the video, Oliver follows a pretty traditional method – with the exception of using pre-cooked beans from a box.

I like it with a spoonfull of natilla instead of the spicy salsa. But good stuff either way.
