Suspect arrested for alleged rape of US tourist on Costa Rica beach

December 31st, 2015 (ICR News) Police officers arrested a 38-year-old suspect Wednesday night on suspicion of raping a 27-year-old tourist from the United States during the early morning hours Sunday.

 

The alleged assault occurred on Sunday around 3 a.m. on a beach in Puerto Viejo, Limon.

 

According to a complaint filed by the woman, the suspect approached her in a bar.  A short time later, the woman and the suspect ended up on the beach, where the suspect allegedly raped the woman.  It was not immediately clear from reports how the woman and the suspect ended up on the beach together.

 

The suspect was arrested after a review of security camera footage from the bar, authorities said.  The suspect “has a prior history of rape,” and other crimes, according to authorities.

    Why any American visits that side of the country is really puzzling. The native Rastas are really aggressive and quite frightening. Not to mention that they will try to sell you $5 worth of weed for $100. If you go to Puerto Viejo, you are tempting fate. Good luck.

      I’ve been there many times with no problems but found the west coast extremely dangerous, horribly expensive and the only place I ever had anything stolen. Perhaps your problem is that you’re dealing with the wrong people, considering you know all about the drug prices there.

        Larry I have had my car broken into south of Cahuita. My friend was assaulted near there. Robert C. who lived there had home invasion by 3 with assault rifles and begged for his life. So yeah real safe .. You must be blessed.

    It’s amazing how many filthy, tattooed, trash American, Canadian, and European women crawl the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica looking for the biggest piece of black salami they can find. And they pay the check too. Truly disgusting. Not an excuse for rape but…if you lay down with dogs, you get up with (sand) fleas.
