      An what execute them………. CR finding out how expensive it is taking in refugees that the USA tax payer ponying up s some major cash. Already about 21,000 have made the trip this past year according to CNN. This a makes Trump mantra of a border fence appealing to many of us. Put them on a plane and land in Cuba hey there home again ….. Why not.

    Yea??? so who is going to pay for the transportation to the US????? I heard that they want to fly them to El Salvador first.

      No details were released as far as how it is going to be paid for. Indeed, the plan is to fly them to El Salvador.. they will then be permitted to travel through Guatemala and Mexico by bus to the US border. While no statement was given as to who is going to pay for the flights, it wouldn’t surprise me if Costa Rica pays for them. It is costing the country $2 million a month to care for them here so flying them out of here is certainly more cost effective than keeping them here, and I doubt anyone else is going to pay for it. Perhaps they could charge the migrants themselves, though.

    So, will the U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers be waiting on the bridge to welcome them to the “Land of the free”? Some how I don’t think so! Donald Trump will have a field day with this story, if he hasn’t already! Major screwup, Costa Rica!

      US Customs and Border Protection doesn’t really have any choice but to welcome them. Under US law, the Cuban Adjustment Act, Cuban nationals arriving by the land borders with Mexico can literally just walk straight across the bridge into the country and receive instant legal status. They are the only nationality in the world with that privilege and thousands have already done it over the last year, before the current situation in Costa Rica arose.

    Well, it’s only a “pilot” project, so who knows whether it will take care of all the Cubans, but CR better hope it does.

    I have it on reliable report that there are some new Cuban “working girls” in San José’s brothels, and the women claim to be only here temporarily en route to the US. It’s smelling like a few of those issued the temporary visas for “humanitarian” purposes are now moonlighting, to the delight of their Tico clients and pimps.

    If so, this puts Costa Rica not only in the position of being a state-sponsor or human trafficking but also a state-sponsor of sex trafficking.

    I wonder if this will make it into the next US Department of State report on human trafficking in Costa Rica?

        My news came from a Tico buddy who does “frequent those establishments.”

        I’m not above going to the brothels myself, and in fact try to see most of them at least once. However, gosh, it’s probably been longer ago than last summer since I’ve been to one. I wouldn’t characterize my patronage as “frequent.”

      No. The sponsor of all of this is Ortega who charges each Cuban $1200 to cross illegally. That is what the Cubans themselves told La Nacion.

    Has anybody bothered to ask the opinion of American taxpayers about this matter? They are the ones who ultimately will be saddle with supporting the Cubans Welfare checks and perks.
