Costa Rica judge had child porn; hidden camera in women’s restroom: prosecutors

December 18^th, 2015 (ICR News) A civil court judge in Heredia was found to be in possession of child pornography on Thursday after having been arrested on suspicion of having installed a hidden camera in a women’s restroom in the courthouse where he worked, according to prosecutors.

Authorities began investigating the judge, identified by the last name Hilje, on Tuesday after a hidden camera was found installed and recording in a women’s public restroom in the courthouse, an investigation of which led to his arrest.

After arresting the judge, authorities executed a search warrant on the judge’s home, vehicle, and office, seizing computers, hard drives, and USB thumb drives.

Investigators discovered child pornography on the devices, according to the prosecutor’s office.

The judge was also in possession of two additional video recording devices of the same type discovered in the public restroom.

The judge could face charges of possession of child pornography and production of pornography, which could carry a penalty between 2 and 8 years in prison.
