December 7th, 2015 (ICR News) Police officers in southern Costa Rica detained 17 undocumented migrants from Nepal and Bangladesh Sunday afternoon.
The migrants, five who claim to be from Bangladesh and 12 from Nepal, were discovered hiding in an abandoned and dilapidated home near Guaycara in Golfito after an anonymous tip. All of the migrants were reported to be in good health.
Police said that none of the migrants, all of whom were men, carried any identification. They are believed to have been en route to the United States.
The migrants were placed in the custody of immigration authorities in Paso Canoas, on the southern border with Panama.
