Suspects arrested in brutal San Jose murder that sparked national outcry

The video above, taken from a security camera, captured the scene in October as multiple gunmen with fully-automatic weapons intercepted a taxi in San Francisco de Dos Rios, San Jose, firing more than 100 rounds into the vehicle.

November 26^th, 2015 (ICR News) Police in Costa Rica in the early hours of Thursday morning arrested two men in the Caribbean province of Limon suspected of being involved in a brutal, broad-daylight murder in a San Jose neighborhood in October that sparked national outcry over increasing violence associated with organizing crime in the country.

The raid and arrests were made by agents of the Judicial Investigative Police (OIJ) in Pueblo Nuevo, Limon before dawn on Thursday.  One of the suspects was armed with a 9mm handgun at the time of his arrest, but no shots were fired in the operation.

A security camera in October captured the scene as multiple gunmen with fully automatic AK-47s intercepted a taxi and sprayed the vehicle with a hail of bullets shortly after 8:30 a.m. on an otherwise peaceful Friday morning in San Francisco de Dos Rios, in San Jose.

Nearly 100 rounds shred through the vehicle, killing passenger Dennis Patricio Omier Taylor and leaving his girlfriend and the taxi driver seriously wounded.

Taylor, the target of the assassination, was himself linked to at least 15 murders and was a suspected hit man for a Limon-based narco gang, the leader of which was himself gunned down while traveling in a taxi in July.

The incident sparked fear and national outcry over increasing violence related to organized crime, especially in the San Jose metro area.

Additional suspects continue to remain at large.
