Bodies of Coca Cola exec, pilot recovered after chopper crash on Costa Rica-Nicaragua border
November 19th, 2015 (EFE) Nicaraguan police confirmed Wednesday the death of Coca Cola’s purchasing chief for natural juices, James Scott Horrisberger, in a helicopter accident earlier this week on the Costa Rica-Nicaragua in which two other people, including another US executive and the pilot, lost their lives and one remains missing.
The assistant director of the National Police, Francisco Diaz, told government media outlets that a body was recovered from the crash in the San Juan River and it proved to be that of Horrisberger.
On Wednesday, rescue units also found the body of Nicaraguan pilot Juan Francisco Lemus, who lived in the United States.
The remains of Phil Wendell Tope, the operations chief for Tampa Juice Service Inc., were found on Tuesday, just hours after the crash.
Meanwhile, former Nicaraguan Cabinet Chief Antonio Lacayo, who served in that post from 1990-1997, remains missing.
Lacayo is not only the son-in-law of former President Violeta Barrios de Chamorro, but also the executive president of TicoFrut, an affiliate of Grupo Pellas, and the executive director of the Pellas Business Center, or CEP.
The Bell 206 L-4 helicopter owned by the Helinica company crashed on Tuesday morning near Santa Fe Bridge over the San Juan River, the Nicaraguan Civil Aviation Institute said.
