November 4th, 2015 (ICR News) Three Costa Rica Coast Guard officials were injured Tuesday afternoon when lightning struck their patrol vessel while conducting a patrol near Chira Island in the Gulf of Nicoya.

One officer reportedly suffered burns to his face and was unable to move one of his legs.  The two other officers suffered less serious injuries, according to Coast Guard officials.
