November 2nd, 2015 (ICR News) A moderate 4.8-magnitude earthquake left some neighborhoods in the San Jose metro area without water on Saturday.

The temblor, with its epicenter about 19 kilometers north of San Isidro de Heredia, ruptured water mains serving Tibas, central Moravia, La Trinidad, Calle Blancos, and some other neighborhoods, according to the Costa Rican Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (AyA), which was working to repair the damage on Sunday.

AyA said that service to all of the affected communities should be restored by the end of the day on Monday.

The Saturday temblor, which struck shortly after 9 a.m., was followed by two aftershocks measuring 3.5 and 3.8 magnitude, respectively, according to the National Seismological Network (RSN).
