US man, possibly wanted for murder had four children living in dungeon-like conditions in Costa Rica

October 28^th, 2015 (ICR News) Three children aged four, six and nine years of age, as well as a three-month-old baby are now in the custody of child protective services in Costa Rica after having been found living in dungeon-like conditions in the home of a man reported to be a United States citizen located in Guadalupe, Goicoechea.

Authorities were alerted to the situation by a tip reportedly received via social media.  Child protective authorities rushed to the scene sometime after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, but the man refused to open the door.

Sometime after, authorities were able to gain legal clearance to raid the home with the assistance of the Judicial Investigative Police (OIJ), and what they found inside was appalling.

According to both official and unofficial reports, the windows of the home were completely covered in black garbage bags and barricaded with barbed wire.

According to a source who spoke to ICR News on the condition of anonymity, the walls of the darkened, dungeon-like home were painted with various “satanic looking” symbols and covered with mirrors and barbed wire.

According to other official sources that spoke to local media, the house was filthy, and neither the refrigerator nor stove functioned.

Authorities said that the only food that the children were being fed was dough used for making tortillas and that the children showed signs of abuse.

An assortment of illicit drugs were also found in the home, according to reports.

The US citizen, identified by the last name Amador and who is the father of the children, was taken into custody at the scene after a struggle.

A report that ICR News cannot yet officially confirm indicates that the man may also have an outstanding warrant for murder or attempted murder.

The children’s mother, identified by the last name Salazar and who is believed to be Costa Rican though her nationality could not be immediately confirmed, arrived at the home shortly after and was also taken into custody.

The children, including the nine-year-old who had also not been attending school, were all taken into protective custody.
