October 16th, 2015 (ICR News) Several additional groups announced that they were taking part in Friday’s massive general strike and demonstrations involving a plethora of public sector workers unions.

UNDECA, which represents CCSS (“La Caja”) workers, the National Association of Teachers (ANDE) and the Association of Secondary School Teachers (APSE) have all announced that they will join the strike and protests today that will begin around 9 a.m. in San Jose’s Central Park.

The unions are joining the massive strike and demonstrations organized by Bussco, a union bloc that represents some 60 public sector unions from nearly every government institution.

Union leaders are promising one of the largest series of strikes in decades in protest of proposed legislation that aims to regulate wages and salaries paid to public sector employees.

Meanwhile, the group which represents specially licensed private taxi drivers, known as the Chamber of Special Stable Taxi Service (SEETAXI), announced that drivers would be conducting protests and slowing traffic at various locations.

The chamber is protesting a decision by the Public Transport Council to eliminate 1,600 Seetaxi licenses.

On Thursday, the doctors’ union known as the Union of Medical Sciences Professionals also announced their participation, saying that only emergencies would be tended to in public hospitals.

Screw these lazy public sector unions in Costa Rica. Layoff everyone in the public sector Union and hire them on 1 year contracts with no benfits.
