September 30th, 2015 (ICR News) About half of Heredia’s municipal workers began an “indefinite” strike on Wednesday morning that will affect some municipal services.
Strikers say they are protesting alleged “irregularities” and mismanagement by acting mayor, José Manuel Ulate Avendaño, who is currently traveling outside the country.
Union officials said that essential services, such as police, will not be affected, though the collection of garbage, park cleaning, and some public works will be suspended until further notice.
The strikers will march Wednesday beginning at the municipal complex.
