September 8th, 2015 (ICR News) Powerful thunderstorms packing powerful wind and heavy rains are expected throughout the Caribbean and northern zones of Costa Rica Tuesday afternoon, as a powerful tropical depression quickly approaches the country, according to the National Meteorological Institute (IMN).

The western Central Valley, as well as the Nicoya Peninsula and southern and central Pacific are expected to also see significant rainfall.

The IMN warns the public, especially motorists, to be cautious of flash flooding near rivers and streams in the affected areas, and says that landslides are also possible.

Powerful wind gusts could also bring down trees and power lines, IMN warns.
