September 7th, 2015 (ICR News) In two separate incidents, both an exchange student from the United States and a tourist from Germany went missing in Quepos on Sunday, according to the Red Cross.
The US citizen, identified by the last name Green and believed to be a 21-year-old exchange student, was apparently swept away by a riptide while swimming near the beach in Playa Linda in Matapalo de Quepos around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The missing 18-year-old German man identified by the last name Borges, who was reportedly a firefighter in his home country, went missing after falling into the Savegre River in the area of Portalon, Quepos around 1 p.m. on Sunday. It was reportedly raining heavily at the time.
The Red Cross, Coast Guard and police rescue teams were searching for both men Monday morning.
