Rush-hour police chase on Route 27 in Santa Ana ends with suspect killed by police

August 19th, 2015 (ICR News) One suspect died after being shot by police and two others were arrested Tuesday afternoon after leading police on a chase down Route 27 in Santa Ana that ended in a shootout with police.

 

The suspects allegedly conducted an armed robbery of a hardware store in Piedades de Santa Ana around 4:40 p.m.

 

The deceased died from a gunshot wound to the neck, while another suspect reportedly received a gunshot to his ankle.

 

A police vehicle involved in the pursuit crashed in front of the Forum office center before the chase came to an end.

 

The officers involved in the collision were taken to the hospital.  Their condition was not immediately known.

 

Police recovered firearms and stolen property from the suspects’ vehicle.

      Agreed. Let’s give credit where credit is due. Of course the police force could always be improved (as could the courts in actually locking up the bad guys) but there are some police officers in this country who do their jobs and genuinely want to keep the public safe and put bad guys behind bars, at great personal risk to themselves, I might add. So without a doubt they deserve credit and I hope they receive a pay raise. Their response time to the incident and actions to quickly end the situation also seem to be quite commendable, and all of the information we have is that the bad guys fired the first shot.

        Yeah, i’ve often seen here dedicated and determined cops who do their best and are really the good guys.
        As far as your pay raise idea is concerned, a little employee of the month star on the calendar and a voucher for two at the Rosty Pollo is good enough. You wouldn’t want to spoil them now…

          The Fuerza Publica is one of the few public entities in this country whose employees (namely, police officers) are underpaid versus significantly overpaid, in my personal opinion.             There are many police officers, right now, perhaps the ones involved in this incident, who are making as little as 65,000 colones per week (about $500/month).

            Meanwhile some of the highest paid public servants are making in excess of $15,000 USD per month and up.

            Tim, this type of comment: ‘a significant number – of public servants are making in excess of $10,000 USD per month and up.’
            Is counter-productive unless you are going to site specifics…how big is the ‘significant number’… what positions are you referencing?

            Your self-serving cuteness in providing truncated ‘legal jargon’ does nothing to inform and only contributes to the disinformation surrounding ‘justice’ in CR.

            IF you actually know something.. come out with it, or just stay hidden in cowardly silence as every other reporter in the country is doing…contributing only to the problem, not the solution.
