August 12th, 2015 (ICR News) Roche Pharmaceuticals opened its new Costa Rica-based Service and Distribution Center that will serve the pharma giant’s customers in 23 countries in Central America and the Caribbean on Wednesday with an investment of USD $5 million.

 

The company will add an additional 40 staffers to its current payroll of 175 employees as part of the expansion.

 

Costa Rican president, Luis Guillermo Solis was on hand Wednesday for the inauguration of the new facility, located in the Ultrapark free trade zone in Heredia.

 

Roche has maintained operations in Costa Rica since 1973.

    40 new jobs in Costa Rica. There are 300.000 people in Costa Rica looking for work. What a joke last week the country lost 600+ jobs. I guess Roche did not see the new and wonderful TAX plan. Roche so you know Costa Rica has 11% unemployment and really the Number is 15% unemployment. Good luck Roche you will need it in Costa Rica.

      A Tax Free zone is to attract foreign investment and provide jobs. Or should I say: “to suck in unwitting companies with promises of benefits future administrations will cancel at the flick of a switch”? It’s what you use when you don’t have much else to attract businesses to … giveaways. But yes, Ben, 40 new jobs is a joke!
