August 4th, 2015 (ICR News) A security camera captured the fatal shooting of a man outside a busy bar around 1:30 a.m. Monday morning in Jaco Beach.
The deceased was identified as a 28-year-old Dominican man by the last name De La Rosa, according to the Judicial Investigative Police (OIJ).
The brazen shooting occurred as other bystanders stood within feet, including police officers, who can be seen in the video chasing after the suspect just moments after the shooting.
Officers were able to apprehend the suspect about seven blocks from the crime scene. Officials identified the suspect as a Colombian national.
Investigators are attempting to determine a motive in the murder.
The shooting adds to what has become a record-breaking year for homicides in Costa Rica, and comes just as officials released a report that homicides so far this year are up 50% compared to the same time period last year.
