July 29th, 2015 (ICR News) A U.S. man required nine stitches after being bitten on the foot by a shark while surfing at Playa Grande, in Tamarindo, Guanacaste, CRHoy.com reports.
The incident occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the report.
A paramedic identified as Ricardo Hernandez said that the victim was able to identify the animal as a shark while trying to free his foot from the animal.
The man was treated at a nearby clinic and required nine stitches, Hernandez said.
