July 8th, 2015 (InsideCostaRica.com) What corporate officials have so far described only as “technical glitches” have completely halted trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), while a separate “glitch” in United Airlines computer systems grounded all of the air carrier’s flights earlier today, affecting at least half a million passengers.
“The issue we are experiencing is an internal technical issue and is not the result of a cyber breach. We chose to suspend trading on NYSE to avoid problems arising from our technical issue, NYSE wrote on Twitter.
The NYSE suspended all trading just after 11:30 a.m. ET.
Unofficial reports also indicate that a huge swath of Time Warner broadband Internet coverage is down. Time Warner is one of the United States’ largest Internet access providers.
This is a developing story and will be updated as additional information becomes available.
