Officers involved in shooting incident at Solís residence to face trial

June 24th, 2015 (InsideCostaRica.com) Four police officers that were involved in a July 2014 shooting incident outside the condominium of Costa Rica president Luis Guillermo Solis will soon face trial on charges that they fabricated a crime scene and made false official statements.
A trial has been set for July 20th in the case of the officers, whom prosecutors allege fabricated a story in which they claim they came under fire from two men on a motorcycle while guarding the home of the president.
Prosecutors believe instead that one of the officers accidentally discharged his firearm, striking another officer in the leg.
Prosecutors base their assertion on evidence that would suggest that the shot was fired from within the police vehicle.
The officers have stuck by their version of events.
