    1 billion would only be the tip of the iceberg. With 20 billion more! Really, Obama you’re going to make a lot of leaders her very rich on the backs of the American workers. This really, stinks .. Redistribution of wealth, now to foreign countries. Might as well throw this money in a rat hole it not going to help the really poor anyway.

      This is a crazy plan that never been done before!… SERIOUSLY?! What?… are you like 4 years old or something? Stop blabbering your Fox talking points and actually research the proposal and HISTORY. The GOP wants it to meld down entirely so we can send troops in there at 10 times the cost and try to take over another country unsuccessfully for an end that no one is ever sure of. THIS proposal… it’s a PREVENTATIVE measure. Isn’t it YOU guys that are SCREAMING about illegal aliens? Well, here’s a proposal that addresses exactly that, its WAY cheeper in the long run and doesn’t kill anyone (our own included). But that’s the tipping point isn’t it?… you righties just wanna KILL someone so you can feel like you’ve accomplished something.

Oh the governments heads, consultants and so on. Then they will cry poor mouth needing more for the poor children, which they do not seem to care about their own. It was in jest I suggested dumping money from a plane it would at least get to some of the poor who need to survive. Suggesting the USA wants to invade Central America , Really..           I’m just getting sick of big-balls America throwing around their weight long after the damage is done. Who pays for that? The 10,000 innocent collateral damage citizens of the “country of the month” that needs us to save them… the 1,000s of dead American kids we send over to do our dirty work for us… and their children they who left at home, fatherless, to foot the tab decades after we even forgot what a stupid idea it was going in in the first place. Kool-aid?… I call it paying attention to recent history. I’m increasingly sick of nay sayers not giving an idea a half of a chance simply because it came from the big scary black man. Obama’s plan may not be perfect – it may not even work… but it sure ain’t killing people, including our own, because we decided to do nothing right now. And for that reason alone, it deserves consideration, and a “partnered” conversation that leads to problem solving, not just a bunch of republicans in a corner with their fingers in their ears shouting “THAT’S A BAD PLAN” no matter WHAT is proposed. These nut jobs are still working on limiting him to 1 term for crud-sake.

    Gee, one billion dollars! That’s nice of Obama. Now one thousand corrupt government officials in those countries will be millionaires. Now, that’s really spreading the wealth around. I never have understood how normal it seems to be for other governments to go to DC to “lobby” for an American taxpayer handout.

    U.S. taxpayers don’t “pay” for anything. The U.S. Government gets all the money it needs from the Federal Reserve printing press. The only thing taxes do is pull money out of the system. Too much money in the system would raise inflation. Sending a billion dollars to Central America pulls that much more out of the U.S., plus they can use the money to play their political games and get these countries to be beholding to them. It’s a bribe. And yes, I agree, most of the money will go to grease the political machine. Any real benefit will be window dressing.

    usa trying to be a Big Shot again. Like Ben below said “the usa doesn’t have the money” If there is such a huge deficit then how can the usa give anyone anything? Its all a way to get favors and usa keep your stinkin money and straighten out your own bigger than Costa Rican’s problems. Maybe Central America should pool together some IMF money and donate it to Obama to help his downtrodden country?

      The IMF’s funding comes primarily from the United States so yes, returning some of the money to the United States would be a nice gesture. If the U.S. money was so “‘stinkin” than why accept it? It is actually the U.S. that doesn’t want it back, in order to try to keep relative development in the Latin America region to avoid chaos.
