June 15th, 2015 (InsideCostaRica.com) Two weeks of heavy rains have left at least six people dead and more than 7,000 homes damaged in Nicaragua, emergency authorities in the country announced on Sunday.
The downpours, which have continued since June 2nd, have wreaked havoc in 45 municipalities across 11 departments, according to the Nicaraguan government.
Amongst the 7,041 homes known to have been damaged, at least 44 have been completely destroyed and 22 partially destroyed.
The downpours were described as “historic” by Nicaraguan authorities.
