Route 27 fully reopened after landslide; Globalvia promises to “monitor” situation

June 8^th, 2015 (InsideCostaRica.com) Route 27, which connects San Jose and the country’s central Pacific coast, was fully reopened Friday afternoon after a major landslide on Wednesday had blocked the highway.

Globalvia, the concessionaire of the toll route, said that “anchors and heavy-duty mesh” were installed prevent the fall of additional material, and promised to continue to “monitor” the situation on the highway.

Meanwhile, the National Laboratory of Materials and Structural Models (LANAMME) of the University of Costa Rica (UCR) urged motorists to be cautious and warned that further rains could result in ongoing landslides on the route.
