May 25th, 2015 (InsideCostaRica.com) Costa Rica’s Regulatory Authority for Public Services (ARESEP) announced the approval of a significant increase in the price of gasoline and diesel on Friday.

The new pricing will come into effect this week after being published in the official government newspaper, La Gaceta.

Super gasoline will increase in price from ¢600/liter to ¢643/liter; regular gasoline from ¢575 to ¢610; while diesel will increase from ¢478/liter to ¢514/liter.

ARESEP said in a press release that the increases are the result of falling stocks of the refined products in the United States and increased demand in that country.

in regard to the fuel increase story “falling stocks or inventory in the USA “it is a load of crap ……uninformed to say the least … they simply need money the country is broke and they need money now!!!!

What need’s to be done is fire 40 % of the people at RECOPE, then cut the pay and benefits of all Government employes by 60% , this will reduce the price of Elect,H2O and Gasoline

It keeps getting worse. Love those socialistic democracies.. wink wink

I am in Colorado and gas is about 2.60 per gallon. Costa Rica has the highest priced fuel. I have trouble believing the Costa Rica press release.

This is a little off the story here. However, I wonder when Costa Rica will become Greece and default on it’s loans? Stocks here are downgraded to junk bonds. Paying entitlements and the increasing pension system here for Diputados 57 of them retire each four years with full pensions. Not mentioning the past government workers of stature . It seems on the backs of the poor who need basic they are paying this increasing taxes on everything.

Greece again about to default on 1.75 billion dollars on June 5th. Yet still the government entitlements have not ended and they are spending like drunken sailors. Price per liter today in Greece is 1.519 Euros

And, they just announced a decrease in the taxi rates. I guess they’ll raise them again next week.
