Tourist killed after boat strikes rocks, sinks in Osa Peninsula

April 20^th, 2015 (InsideCostaRica.com) A French tourist was killed on Sunday after the sport fishing vessel he was aboard struck rocks and sank near Cabo Matapolo in the Osa Peninsula.

The victim was identified by the Ministry of Public Security (MSP) as Aubers Nicolle, 49.  Four other people who were also onboard the vessel, including the victim’s wife and son, were rescued by Coast Guard quick-response rescue boats.

Authorities believe that the vessel, which departed Golfito around 5 a.m., encountered rough seas that forced it into the rocks.
