Gasoline, diesel prices could go up in March; RECOPE blames striking US workers

February 16th, 2015 (InsideCostaRica.com) After eight consecutive price cuts, the Costa Rican Oil Refinery (RECOPE) asked regulators on Friday for increases in gasoline and diesel prices, saying that the move is largely due to strikes taking place at nine refineries in the United States from which the country purchases ready-made gasoline and diesel fuels and which RECOPE feels could threaten its supplies.

 

If approved, regular gasoline would increase ¢41/liter from ¢503 to ¢544; super gasoline would increase ¢34/liter from ¢536 to ¢570, and diesel would increase ¢19 to ¢493.

 

If approved by regulator ARESEP, the increases would come into effect in March.

    So, they want to raise prices because the strikes “COULD” cause their expenses to go up.

    What the hell oil prices are so low but only the stupied CR goverment would say raise the price up. Really sad what is happening in CR food and gas price still are going up and unemployment is out of control i see on Tico time everyday a new million dollar homes for sale and if you go anywhere in CR you see lots of property for sale and rent. Crime is everywhere now in CR and i see thing getting worse and worse as more business close in CR. You see Greece now Costa Rica is now worse than Greece.

    Anything for the CR government to take more money from the people….the only strike that I know of in the USA is the striking of more oil then they know what to do with.
