Record crowds expected for 5th annual Tilarán Christmas Fair on Sunday

Tilarán, Guanacaste – December 13, 2014 – For the 5th consecutive year, Ladies of the Lake will be hosting the Feria Navideña, the annual fund-raising Christmas Bazaar at the municipal gymnasium in Tilarán, Guanacaste on December 14th from 10am until 4pm.

Each year, Feria Navideña grows larger and is able to raise more money to help the local community.  From the proceeds of the 2013 event, funds were provide to help feed 11 families throughout the year and provide funding for local spay & neuter clinics.  Alicia Lopez, Director of Families in Need in Tierras Morenas, adds “The donations from Ladies of the Lake raised from Feria Navideña are invaluable!  Without their support, we could not help families meet their most primary needs.    After these families pay for their basic services, many are left with almost no money for food.”

This year’s event is larger than ever.  With over 45 vendors showcasing a large variety of wares such as hand-crafted jewelry, household goods, crafts, clothing, and plants; record crowds are anticipated.  In addition, over 200 prizes have been donated for our famous Gift Box Grab and 2 raffles.  Prizes range in value up to $1,600.  Examples include a boat trip on Lake Arenal for up to 20 people, hotel stays and dining in Playas del Coco, and adventure packages in the La Fortuna/Arenal Volcano area.

There will be something for everyone.  Plenty of typical and American food and a Kids Korner with free face painting, crafts, and a bouncy house to keep the kids entertained while the parents can shop.

“I have been part of the planning process for each of the past 5 years,” says Ruth Fountaine, “and I am amazed at how this event has grown!  We are truly honored to be able to support the local community and hope to do more financially this year than all other previous years combined.”

Ladies of the Lake is a group of women of varying backgrounds and nationalities in the Lake Arenal Community who meet regularly “to support one another and who work together to have a positive impact in the extended community”.   100% of all profits raised by Ladies of the Lake via Feria Navideña are donated to charity.  To learn more, visit https://www.facebook.com/LOL.Feria.Navidena or call 8520.4481.
