December 1st, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) Johnny Araya (PLN), the former mayor of San Jose and former presidential candidate in the 2014 general elections, is considering entering the race to once again serve as mayor of San Jose, Araya told the Spanish-language news web site, CRHoy.com over the weekend.

“It is a decision that will be taken in the coming days, in the coming weeks,” Araya said.

Araya served as mayor of San Jose between 1998 and 2013 before entering the 2014 presidential race, which he lost to President Luis Guillermo Solis.

Okay he wants to run for Mayor again and what the hell is going to do for San Jose not one dam thing. In twenty years what did he do for San Jose not one dam thing. I have a group of friends that want to start a movement stop Johnny Araya by any means. This guys is such a two faced person it makes me sick. He hates poor and middle class and love his buddies that have money. We need to start fighting against this crap oligarchy that hate everything but the money they put in there own pocket. This Ex Mayor made $200.000 a years and what did we get for that money. We got Crime, poverty, bad roads,no improvements est.

Yes, you would like to see average, well educated citizens run for the job not professional politicians in any country, not just Costa Rica.

Johnny Araya is clearly intent on becoming president of Costa Rica one day. The first step to restoring some credibility is to reclaim the mayoral office of San Jose. Hopefully, the people of San Jose have decided that they don’t need his kind.

What I don’t understand is what happened to all of the allegations of corruption and impropriety caused Araya to bail on the presidential race earlier this year. I realize that there is no such thing as swift justice here, but were those allegations disproven, or would they resurface if he ran for mayor – or does he think that the people of SJ still support him despite the allegations?

Your so right on. When he bailed out of the run off. Claiming no money and left a lot of “investors” I mean contributors out in the cold. Reminds me of Rodrigo , Oscar Arais brother trying to run for president. NO MORE JOHNNY PLEASE!

He stole tons of cash the first time and got away with it, he is coming back for more stealing, milk the cow until the last drop and then some.
