November 24th, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) Police in Pavas were met with gunfire when they attempted to stop a vehicle during the early morning hours of Saturday.
After a brief exchange of gunfire between police and the occupants of the vehicle, police were able to stop the vehicle and arrest two Nicaraguan suspects and one Costa Rican.
Police, however were in for a surprise upon searching the suspects’ vehicle.
After opening the trunk, police discovered the bullet-riddled body of a man with a bag over his head.
The three suspects, identified by the last names Mednez, Urbina, and Saborio, were taken into custody on suspicion of murder. Two of the suspects were hit by police bullets during the exchange of gunfire and were transported to the San Juan de Dios hospital. None of the police officers were injured in the incident.
Police said that all three suspects, as well as the deceased, have extensive criminal histories.
