Beachnuts Theatre presents The Chocolate Factory and new businesses open their doors in Tamarindo

November 21st, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) Beachnuts Theatre Company present The Chocolate Factory from Thursday November 20th to Sunday November 23rd at The Village on the road to Brasilito – the shopping plaza at the entrance to CRIA (the old Country Day School). The production, based on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, is directed by Paul Belanger and performed by children from the community.

Performances will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening at 7 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets are $10 in advance at Jaime Peligro Bookstore and La Oliva Food Imports or $15 at the door. The production lasts just over two hours with intermission, and refreshments will be available for purchase.

New businesses open their doors for the 2014-15 high season

Every year Tamarindo experiences a renewal as high season approaches. Some businesses close their doors for a variety of reasons, but community residents get excited about the new and the different in town. This is a round-up of businesses that are new for 2014-15:

Creperie between El Chilito and Super Compro

Point Break Surf gear and surf lessons on the way into town on the beach side of the street

Wild Panda Tours & Information in the food court where Addy’s used to be

The Bulk Shop serving locals online at the Tamarindo Feria with products from Pricesmart

Canucks Hideaway beach bar on the grounds of the Feria in the container serving poutine, gourmet grilled cheese.

Washing Post laundry and consignment store in the Tamarindo Gym building

Asian Fusion affordable sushi and other Asian food opened earlier this year after the last high season so they are worth mentioning here

Finally, rumour has it that there is a shrimp stand opening in the hut in the parking lot where Cafe Tico and Jaime Peligro Bookstore are located. The business owner was not available for comment or to provide the name.
