November 17th, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) After a week of relative inactivity, the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) reported eruptions at the Turrialba volcano on Thursday and Friday that sent a fresh sprinkling of ash over nearby communities.

Thursday’s eruption occurred in the early morning hours, while Friday’s eruption was recorded around 1:40 p.m.

The eruptions were also recorded by seismographs.

The National Emergency Commission maintains a yellow alert for the communities of Alvarado and Turrialba, which are closest to the volcano.

Turrialba roared to life on October 29th in the most significant eruption witnessed at the volcano in 150 years.
