Smoking joint in public gets man busted with $16k in cash in Perez Zeledon

October 21st, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) Police in San Isidro del General, Perez Zeledon stopped a man who was smoking a marijuana cigarette in public only to later discover $16,000 USD in cash in the man’s backpack on Sunday afternoon.

 

The 25-year-old man, identified by the last name Diaz, was unable to explain to authorities the source of the cash.

 

Diaz was placed under arrest on suspicion of drug-related and money laundering offenses.  The cash was placed in official custody.
