October 20th, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) Alajuela, famous for its variety of orchids, is preparing for its 34th Orchid Expo, an event organized by the Alajuela Orchid Society.
The expo will be held this year at the Colegio Instituto de Alajuela, on October 24th-26th. Amateur and professional growers will show off their wares and provide seminars and educational talks to enthusiasts.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Judging the varietals presented will be the Association of Orchid Judges.
Alajuela has long been famous for its orchids. Though found throughout the province, nearly a third of Costa Rica’s 1,400 types of orchids can be found in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, which straddles the border between Alajuela and Guanacaste.
