Lightning strike leads to explosion of more than 200 gas cylinders in La Fortuna

October 6th, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) A bolt of lightning led to the explosion of more than 200 LPG cooking gas cylinders in warehouse in La Fortuna de San Carlos on Sunday.

The explosion took place at a warehouse belonging to the Zeta Gas Company around 11:30 a.m.

The violent explosion blew the roof from the warehouse, sending debris into a nearby cemetery and surrounding areas.  Large fireballs could be seen rising from the structure.

Fortunately, the warehouse, which is some distance from any residential areas, was closed at the time and no one was injured in the blast.

Specialists from San Jose who traveled to the scene confirmed that the cause of the explosion was a lightning strike.

Lightening is for hair stylists. Lightning is for Mother Nature.

Thank you for the catch, amserv. Word autocorrect these days is more like auto-error. You’ve earned yourself an ICR mug if you are in CR.

I’m in Atenas. I can wait until I earn a set of four to collect (but, as a regular reader, I have to admit, that may take a while…).

By this time next year I can almost assure you your collection. Thanks for reading, as always.
