Judge shot outside bar by unknown assailants

September 29^th, 2014 (InsideCostaRica.com) The Flagrancy Court judge for Desamperados, Jose Manuel Chinchilla Chavarria, 54, died Friday night after being shot in the head outside a bar in Guadalupe, Goicoechea.

The incident took place outside a bar called “Stragos,” about 150 meters from the central park of Guadalupe, at 9:40 p.m.

The judge was inside of the establishment with nine other customers when gunshots were heard outside.

The judge apparently went outside the establishment to investigate when he was struck with a bullet through his left eye.

Chinchilla was transported alive to the Calderon Guardia Hospital, but died of cardiac arrest minutes after arrival.

The shooters are believed to be at least two young men, according to eyewitnesses.

Chinchilla leaves behind three children.
